Headliners - College Notes 1182x500

College Notes is back for its fifth year of a cappella performances! The program will be emceed by Deke Sharon and Marcus Washington. Sharon’s credits include musical director and arranger for all three Pitch Perfect movies and producer of The Sing-Off. Marcus Washington hosts Today in the Bay and NBC News at 11 on NBC Bay Area. The evening will feature a cappella groups from top universities from across the country and is sure to be the perfect harmony of bright minds and bright voices!

This year's incredible line up!

UCLA ScatterTones

The ScatterTones are a 7-time international award-winning group, most recently placing 3rd at the 2022 International Championship of Collegiate A Capella. The ScatterTones have opened for Pentatonix in concert, have had the honor of singing in the White House, been featured on KTLA Channel 5 Morning News, and have sung backup for Taylor Swift.

USC SoCal VoCals

The SoCal VoCals have a rich history, being founded in 1996 and having over 150 members over the last 25 years. Some of the VoCals’ favorite performances include Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and BMI Music Awards. Our alumni members have gone on to do amazing things, like tour worldwide and start bands, such as Pentatonix and Citizen Queen!

Northeastern Nor’easters

Most recently, they were crowned champions of the 2019 National A Cappella Convention in Memphis, Tennessee. They also have had the honor of being named the 2013 and 2017 champions of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, the ICCA Wildcard Champions in 2015, and have performed for the President and First Lady of the United States at the White House Christmas Gala in 2013. The Nor’easters were also the feature group on the first season of PopTV’s docu-series, “Sing It On," performing with John Legend on The View and traveling to New York, Los Angeles, and Australia to perform and promote the show.

Michigan G-Men

The G-Men, founded in 1995, is an all-male a cappella group at the University of Michigan. Throughout our 25 years of history, we have performed for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, sang the national anthem for the Detroit Pistons and Tigers, competed in 4 ICCA Finals, and entertained audiences throughout the Ann Arbor community, the state of Michigan and around the country. The group is comprised of students from a variety of majors and is proud to have a network of over 100 alumni who have succeeded in many fields.

Alumni

Tehillah Alphonso – a Nigerian American vocalist, pianist, music director, and GRAMMY®-nominated arranger based in Los Angeles, California. A proud Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Southern California, she received her B.M. in Popular Music Performance from the Thornton School of Music. She was named 2020 Outstanding Graduate, becoming the first Black woman in the pop program to achieve this award. 

Anilee List – was one of the Top 24 contestants on American Idol, Season 19, in April 2021, and appears in the Oscar-winning film CODA. Originally from Los Angeles, Anilee studied at Berklee College of Music, where she has performed with the acclaimed A Cappella group Pitch Slapped. She was named a 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts and a 2017 Young arts Finalist. Anilee is involved with the Tourette Association of America and has been involved as a performer for their fundraisers since she was ten years old.
