Why join the Lesher Volunteer Usher Program?

  1. Support the arts! Our staff and event producers depend on our volunteer team.
  2. Serve your community! Our patrons rely on your service.
  3. Become an LCA team player! Make new friends while enjoying the shows.
  4. Experience the shows! There is nothing like live entertainment. Volunteers are needed throughout the shows, and can attend them in exchange for their service.

Usher Eligibility

  • Usher positions are open to anyone over the age of 16, or over the age of 14 if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • All volunteer ushers must view and comprehend an online or in-person orientation/training session prior to ushering.
  • Ushers are required to remain on their feet for extended periods of time and/or to maneuver the space by way of ramps and stairs. Seats are not guaranteed. Volunteers who may require accommodations are welcome to apply.
  • Ushers must have sufficient vision to read theater tickets without difficulty and be able to maneuver in a darkened atmosphere.
  • We may only have a few openings each training session.

Continued Eligibility

  • Cooperative & courteous attitude toward patrons, fellow volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to follow instructions and perform all required tasks.
  • Positive performance ratings by house manager and other staff.

Bedford Gallery Volunteers

Volunteering at the Bedford Gallery is fun and provides an opportunity to make friends, learn about art, and help foster love of the arts in our community.

  1. Docents: trained to lead tour groups.
  2. Guild Members: provide hospitality and information to visitors.
  3. Interns: serve as administrative or curatorial aides

Our nonprofit partner, Diablo Regional Arts Association, works closely with the Lesher Center for the Arts to fulfill volunteer opportunities at a variety of events. From assisting at fundraising galas to ushering live performances, we appreciate your interest in volunteering.

Please note, current volunteers are required to commit to volunteer for a minimum of 11 events per year and include a minimum of three (3) shifts over the two (2) month holiday season of November and December. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for as many additional events as they wish.
