“Whack!” Percussionist Ken Bergmann is back with his smashing spectacle of drums, cowbells, chairs and more in Percussion Discussion. Incorporating instruments from around the globe, the popular family-oriented show features a hysterical romp through the sound effects of Hollywood, a unique look at the computer age, all the flash one would expect from a drummer gone amok and for no apparent reason, a cymbal clanging monkey.
According to the Ledger Dispatch: “It contained the spontaneity of Robin Williams.”
Bergmann will have audiences doing more than just tapping their feet. He’ll have them out of their seats and on the stage producing the roar of thunder, the tap of footsteps, and a rumbling locomotive. “I hit stuff” says the enthusiastic percussion expert. Hit stuff he does. Tapping a computerized drum, Mr. Bergmann creates everything from a computerized rock concert to an aerial dogfight between Snoopy and the Red Baron. Moments later he’s playing a Scott Joplin Rag, and then Bach on a Marimba. Bergmann goes on a musical frenzy with theatrical intensity and a daft sense of humor. Says one fan: “It’s STOMP for kids.”
Running Time: approx. 50 minutes, with no intermission
