For over 50 years, the Contra Costa Ballet Centre has been one of the most prominent classical ballet schools in California. Its annual Student Showcase is a collection of choreographed pieces that demonstrate the breadth of each level’s training over the course of the school year. Audience members have the unique experience of viewing the development of a dancer from budding pre-ballerina to aspiring professional. The performance culminates with the Contra Costa Ballet Company – the Centre’s highest level of achievement – performing an exhilarating excerpt from Paquita, one of the cornerstones of traditional ballet repertoire.
