With the rise in popularity of textile art, Bedford Gallery’s first exhibition of 2025 focuses on the exciting evolution of embroidery and the artists who are redefining the medium. Previously overlooked as women’s work and often excluded from serious discussions in fine art, the work in Stitched: Contemporary Embroidery exposes outdated perceptions by highlighting contemporary artists who merge traditional embroidery techniques with innovative approaches and socio/political themes to create striking visual dialogues.
BG Donors get a special preview from 11 am - 12 pm for the opening of Stitched: Contemporary Embroidery on Saturday, January 11! Be among the first to experience this unique opportunity to explore an art form that dates to the 3rd century BCE through the lens of today’s most gifted stitching artists.
